KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS TO TRACK FOR Q4

Can you believe we are already entering the final quarter of 2022?

Each quarter I set goals based on KPIs I want to track in my business. Below are the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) I track and have my clients track as well.

By setting quarterly goals, you give yourself more time to work towards accomplishing those goals If you set monthly goals, you can feel like you are restarting constantly and don’t have enough runway to get real traction on your goals.

These benchmarks and KPIs can help you choose tactics and strategies and create content and a marketing plan to help you achieve them, rather than just going through the motions without any purpose.

If you know me, you know I believe marketing has to have a purpose and solve a problem.

Without further ado, let’s get to the goals….

Sales

What do you want to sell and how many? This can be products or services. Look back at your past sales from previous quarters or Q4 last year (this is especially a good idea if you are a retailer). Set lofty yet realistic goals based on that information. Remember, no one else has to see these numbers but you. Nothing will happen if you don’t quite get there so aim high, but keep it within reach so you don’t feel defeated at the end of the quarter.

Growth

Think about all the platforms where you have a presence. What percentage do you want to grow by on each of those platforms over the next 3 months? Write down the platform, the percentage and what that percentage translates to as a number. Think about your social following, email list, YouTube subscribers, Pinterest followers, engagement rate, website traffic, etc.

Look back at the last quarter to see what your growth rate was for each platform so you can set goals according to that data.

Visibility

Marketing is all about making your business, products and services more visible. What tactics can you implement that will make you, your business, products and services more visible?

Then create a visibility plan to achieve it. Think about who you can collaborate with, podcasts you can pitch yourself to be a guest on, host a free workshop, offer to write a guest blog for someone, or apply to speak on a panel at an industry event.

How to reach your goals

Once you have your KPIs and goals set, start planning how you can reach them. Plan content that that will help support these goals. If you want to grow your email list, you have to tell people about it. If you want to sell something, you have to tell people about it and tell them how they can buy it.

Make it clear what you want your audience to do, and then make it easy for them to do it. Remember that you have to talk about these things consistently. You can’t mention something once and then wonder why no one signed up or purchased.
